The Stage is Set
June 4, 2008
The fat lady has been singing for a long time yet the Clintons wear ear
plugs. Outside a twisted miracle or unfortunate blow, the Democratic
nominee is Barack Obama. John McCain will almost assuredly be the Republican nominee,
outside a revolt by delegates against McCain.
People who care about our country's demise unfortunately have no choice with these two
parties. The founding fathers' are not represented by these fellows.
Who would George Washington choose? Neither.
Is that important? Of course. People have not changed. But,
our
mindset has changed simply as we have sterilized our minds from a moral
conscience. We no longer fear God and the consequences of
displeasing Him. We choose our own way despite His instruction. This has led to our demise and increasing desperation.
We lack civility with each other. We foolishly choose to tolerate the
intolerable and yet turn around and condemn those who are imperfect but
seriously try to please God, yet we also forget all of our
blessings simply come from Him.
We have nothing when we give Him up. Ask yourself, would He bless us
when we kick Him out of our lives and our government? Then ask yourself,
why is our nation in such a mess.
On September 19, 1796, in his Farewell Address, President George
Washington said:
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity,
Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man
claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to
subvert these great Pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of
the duties of Men and Citizens.
The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to
cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with
private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked where
is the security for prosperity, for reputation, for life, if the sense
of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of
investigation in the Courts of Justice?
And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be
maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence
of refined education on minds of peculiar structure,
reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality
can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
Tis substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of
popular government. The rule indeed extends with more or less force to
every species of Free Government. Who that is a
sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake
the foundation of the fabric?...
Observe good faith and justice towards all Nations. Cultivate peace and
harmony with all. Religion and Morality enjoin this conduct; and can it
be that good policy does not equally enjoin it?...Can
it be, that Providence has not connected the permanent felicity of a
Nation with its virtue?...

Bob Barr is the candidate for the Libertarian Party. He has some good attributes yet he misses the main
point. His web site (http://bobbarr2008.com)
proudly claims- "Big Government and Big Spending - The Root of all Problems".
Well, that is a big problem, not the most important one. He is pro-life,
yet there is no mention of this on his web pages under "issues". Further
homosexual rights are not dealt with on the site, taking the very libertarian
viewpoint of morality. This will never save our nation from God's
righteous judgment. We merely dance around the most important issue,
asking God's forgiveness and help. Only this will allow our nation to heal
and to invite God's blessing.
They just don't get it. Our nation's problems stem from our
choice to remove God's direction from our nation. We foolishly
demand "God Bless America" when we don't respect Him. We poke
God in the eye and expect his blessing. As we can see
everywhere, we are instead under His judgment.
But alas, there is hope, yet the most reasonable approach for someone
caring to witness and stand in the gap, entreating our nation to turn back to
God and to humble ourselves to the One who alone can bless us and
protect us. Dr. Chuck Baldwin
(http://baldwin2008.com) of the
Constitution Party is a shining ray of hope. He understands the beginnings
of our government and historical documents in early American history. As a
Baptist minister, his values align with his insightful reading of the
scriptures.
If we foolishly act
as we did last election (leading us into worsening problems as we see and feel
today), we will follow a self-fulfilling prophecy that he cannot win so we
choose not to vote for him and then surprise, we were right, he didn't win.
Inherent in this thinking though is our own guilt for choosing a lesser god of
voting for someone who theoretically 'could win' and who doesn't deserve to win from their anti-Christian values
to avoid someone else. We become guilty and accountable for this poor
decision, a decision that would not please God or emulate good decisions by
God's great men of the Bible. In the Bible, we are never instructed to
compromise on God's issues, no matter what the consequences.
Well meaning Christians forget this when it comes to politics.
Give Baldwin the best you can. He will represent the
people and most importantly, will honor God.
