CALL EVIL GOOD
Isaiah 5: 20 Woe to those who call evil good and
good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for
sweet and sweet for bitter.
We find ourselves confused. Today, one person's opinion is considered
equivalent to another's.
A common misconception is epitomized in this often used statement:
'We will listen to one side and then to the other and
the truth is somewhere in the middle'.
In fact, one opinion could be 100% correct and the other 100% wrong.
If this is true, the middle is also wrong, likely even 100% wrong as
well. As an example, if someone asks which city is the home of the
Lakers professional basketball team and one answers "Chicago", they are
completely wrong. So is Kansas City or Denver or other 'middle'
answers. Compromise may be appropriate when it comes to issues
lacking a moral absolute and merely are simply of personal preferences.
Yet, to our shame, truth is often foolishly discarded in the name of
tolerance. The truth? Whenever it is ignored or willingly
discarded, it will come back to bite us.
In the great Greek and Roman civilizations, scholars and
philosophers sought truth and understood the importance of achieving
understanding. Christian critical thinking that formed our great
nation gave us the Bible as the primary source of truth with reasoning
to find truth in those things not expressly taught in the scriptures.
Our current mindset has not only allowed but we have come to fully embrace
concepts we know through reason as false. Why? We don't want
to acknowledge the truth of the scriptures. We don't want God.
Do the following verses sound like us today?
Isaiah 59:7 Their feet rush into
sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are evil thoughts;
ruin and destruction mark their ways. 8 The way of peace they do not know; there
is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one
who walks in them will know peace. 9 So justice is far from us, and
righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness; for
brightness, but we walk in deep shadows. 10 Like the blind we grope along the
wall, feeling our way like men without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were
twilight; among the strong, we are like the dead. 11 We all growl like bears; we
moan mournfully like doves. We look for justice , but find none; for
deliverance, but it is far away. 12 For our offenses are many in your sight, and
our sins testify against us. Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge
our iniquities: 13 rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs
on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have
conceived. 14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance;
truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. 15 Truth is nowhere to
be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was
displeased 15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a
prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice .
We have willingly and/or negligently chosen to avoid standing firm at the risk of
displeasing individuals who call good evil and evil good. We who have been
given the truth have squandered it for cheap political tricks that are supposed
to fix our problems by outmaneuvering our adversary.
Short examples (to follow below):
In the FoxNews South Carolina Republican Debate (May 15, 2007), there
was an interesting exchange between Representative Ron Paul of Texas and
former Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York City.
REP. RON PAUL,
R-TEXAS, GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: They attack us
because we've been over there, we've been bombing Iraq for
10 years. We've been in the Middle East. I think Reagan was
right. We don't understand the irrationality of Middle
Eastern politics.
RUDY GIULIANI,
GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: That's an extraordinary
statement of someone who lived through the attack of Sept.
11, that we invited the attack because we were attacking
Iraq. I don't think I've ever heard that before and I've
heard some pretty absurd explanations for Sept. 11.
(APPLAUSE)
Giuliani: I
would ask the congressman to withdraw that
comment and tell us that he didn't really
mean that.
|
Mayor Giuliani simply doesn't get it. Unfortunately, the
audience who applauded so loudly is also clueless. Much of
this error comes from a lack of knowledge of the scriptures.
Giuliani can put on the empty bravado of someone who was dealing
with the World Trade Center attack. He claims credit for his
handling of the situation. Yet, there were no other attacks.
He didn't prevent it and within one hour the attacks were over.
His prominence simply comes from doing a decent job cleaning up the
mess. As a glorified janitor, this does not make him qualified to lead
these United States.
Why should Giuliani direct our
foreign policy? Ron Paul was largely right. Our
misguided political dabbling in the Mid East over the years has
angered the Muslims. Our export of pornography, brazen embrace
of sinful lifestyles such as homosexuality and support of Israel
(one thing we should still do in appropriate ways) has led to the
September 11 attacks. We supported the Shah of Iran and bombed
Saddam. We have funded terrible groups both in Afghanistan and
Mexico and other places through our drug trade
in addition to oil. We have become 'the great satan' and 'the
infidels' the highly moralistic Islamic extremists love to hate and
at the same time take financial advantage of us. We are great
targets as great hypocrites as we divorce ourselves from the moral
teachings of God's true Word, the Holy Bible yet we claim to remain
a 'Christian nation'. We are liars. We deserve to die in
their mindsets.
Of course, they are wrong to a
large degree.
Yet there is overwhelming validity in their mindset, to our shame, that we deserve judgment
upon us. God chose to level some judgment upon us in the hands
of some scum bag Al Quaeda fools, now burning in hell, from the attack on
September 11. God has limited their access to us in grace to
give us more time to repent, fall on our knees and return to
true Christian living. He is our only hope, God Himself is our greatest
danger of harm and loss of life if we don't repent.
Proverbs 16: 7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD , he
makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
Our founders knew this, we have forgotten that
freedom and our republic requires a moral, self-controlled population
flavored by true Christianity.
George Washington's farewell
address warned us appropriately ("religion" equaled "Christianity" in
his view).
"And let us with caution indulge the supposition,
that morality can be maintained without religion.
Whatever may be
conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar
structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that
national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
Tis substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary
spring of popular government." |
Our nation has fallen victim to
popular culture insanity.
Consider the following exchange with Greta Van Susteren and Hugh Hefner, On the Record, 4/4/07.
On the Record 4/4/07

VAN SUSTEREN:
(speaking of the recent tragic death of Anna Nicole
Smith) ...how important has she been to Playboy?
HEFNER: "Well I don't think we would have fully appreciated the impact she had until
her demise. I don't think anybody was prepared for the remarkable response and
reaction to her death.... Anna Nicole was obsessed with Marilyn Monroe that
was obvious from the very beginning. She talked about it. At the very
beginning, she talked about it and it was very very real from the outset. What
we would not have anticipated was the tragedy of the life and the ironic aspect
of it, that she died in her thirties from a drug overdose just like Marilyn did...
I think that one of the things that is curious about her is that she is a
classic example of the unique nature of celebrities today. Today, you don't
have to accomplish a great deal to be a celebrity today. A celebrity is defined
to some extent, quite simply, by just being a celebrity.
As tragic as her death
is, she certainly went out in, in style.
Because celebrity and attention was a
major part of what it was all about for her. She came from a very small town
with big dreams. In a very real sense, they came
true."...VAN
SUSTEREN: Is she a victim or was she sort of the
architect of her own destiny? I mean, if — when you — as
someone who knew Anna Nicole, did you think this was a
victim or is this someone who's just totally in charge
her life no matter how derailed it's ultimately going to
be?
HEFNER: I think a little of both. I think a
little of both. Again you get
down to the question of character and choices. But at
the same time, somebody in a position like Anna Nicole
will be taken advantage by other people. But,
I would say that by and large she gave as good as she
got. She would be very pleased, you know, with all the
tragedy and the loss of the son, and such, I think that
she would be very pleased by this remarkable public
fascination with the life. You know, she went out in her
terms, big time.

Anna Nicole will hit newsstands
this Friday. The playboy.com website will honor her as well, and
Playboy
TV will air a special Anna Nicole tribute next Wednesday

In the above, we see a god (whom we worship to our shame) of taking advantage of other people, Hefner,
pointing fingers away from him and at "other people". He acknowledges no
complicity or responsibility in her untimely death. His empire was made on
the flesh of many girls who tragically made him richer and stronger and more
able to inflict similar desperation upon other young ladies. His success
stories for playmates revolve around people, often who have tragic lives and those who
choose money, and fame as their god.
He claims Anna Nicole's life was a success. She went out in
style. Let's see, her 20 year old son just died of an overdose,
she was an unwed mother with a newborn whose father was fighting to see
her, she died of an overdose as well, her mother could not see her, she
was living with a parasitic lawyer and she was much too young. She stayed
in court battle after court battle. Which part
of that was "in style"? Oh, the celebrity part. Why do we
give blood suckers like Hefner any credit? His empty, short-lived
promises to these girls entice them into the tragic situations. We
too deserve judgment, when we purchase Playboy magazines or TV, we have financed these
girls' lust for money and fame helping some meet her
untimely end.
As an interesting note, Hefner was on this show to promote his
"tribute" to her, taking advantage of another opportunity to make
more money off a pitiful woman
and a dead one at that. He is evil and to our shame we have admired him.
We call Hefner good when this is far from the truth.
Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan and other young
celebrities are a reflection on the shallowness of Americans today.
Instead of gaining wisdom from their fellow citizens as they should be
maturing, they are left to their own desires of the moment that
invariably lead to their desperate run ins with the law, alcohol,
probable drugs and threatening their own and other's lives. We
have fueled this destruction through our nonjudgmental acceptance of
this dangerous lifestyle. Our financial support claims their
behavior is good when it is more appropriately considered evil.
We have
similarly contributed to the strength of our enemies.
Illegal
drugs that our people purchase have given the terrorists billions of
dollars so they can purchase weapons to use against us. Illegal
drugs cost countless lives of our own, both from the inherent dangerous
interaction on the bodies of our citizens and the cost of the
Americans lost fighting wars against more powerful weapons funded by us
for the enemy.
We are our worst enemy. Instead of searching for appropriate direction
to protect us from crime and to entreat God's blessing, we arrogantly pretend we
can make legislative changes to relieve us of the evils. Considering
additional laws to be protective, merely adds to our loss of freedom and
establishment of a royal class. Again, evil is considered good, as seen in
the following.
Jon Corzine, Democratic Governor of New Jersey, was hospitalized
following injuries sustained in a terrible accident and thankfully he is
recovering well and to his credit, apologetic. His SUV was driven
by a State Policeman. Corzine was not wearing a seat belt (1 law
broken), going over 90 mph (2nd law broken), having previously fought
for lowering the speed limit to 55 mph. Why was the policeman
breaking the speed limit and driving recklessly? (2 laws broken)
This is important as we expose the fallacy of passing additional laws
to "fix" things. Those most interested in adding burdensome
legislation are quite good at believing they are above the law, as
illustrated here. In early days of driving, there was a single law
that dealt with dangerous driving. Arguably, the only appropriate
law would be for reckless driving, as in days a few decades before.
People should be fully accountable for dangerously driving. Other
laws essentially are a tax on those who choose to drive faster, without
a seat belt or other reasons. These obviously have not "fixed"
driving that endangers others, the one thing that is most important.
Speed doesn't kill, another lie. Of course, speed magnifies the
momentum of impact, if that should happen. (P=mv 2)
(momentum= mass times the velocity squared) Yet the speed must depend on careful judgment.
In fact, there are many accidents that occur when a policeman pulls
over a person and another rams the car(s). The health costs and
cost to life itself should cause us to consider if we really are helping
people by the practice of ticketing people for speeding when this is not
of any danger, unless it is reckless.
The immigration fiasco shows similar absurdity. The government
makes laws, fails to enforce these laws, and when the outcry is great
enough due to the failure of such enforcement, chooses not to enforce
the laws on the books but attempts to pass other laws that will be ignored again.
The law abiding citizens are again stuck obeying additional laws and
paying for additional measures in the newer legislation and are hurt
even more. The point? Our incredibly intrusive but poorly
functioning government has become an incredible weight upon our
citizens, one that is breaking our back. Is there any part of our
lives for which government has no control? If we critically look
at it, virtually everything is regulated and/or taxed. We dare
call this freedom.
Our debt is enormous.
We erroneously believe debt is in our best interest. Evil
considered good.
We exist as if it debt does not matter. We consider anything
our government clumsily does for us as good when it is additional
interest on our debt, again what most would consider good- getting as
much as we can from the government actually representing evil- cost that
will come home to roost and more loss of freedom as the rules attached
to the dollars taken from us to be dealt back to us will take freedoms
away.
This will be compounded
judgment upon us as well. Unfortunately, we deserve the pain we are
beginning to feel, not that we should hate the U.S. but to awaken to the
coming suffering if we do not return to self-control under God's
direction and the true freedoms that this brings. Self-control
requires the background of God's Word for our direction, else we blindly
make things worse.
We must repent, turn and accept Christ and His
direction if we will have any chance. Without His guidance in the
scriptures we are destined to incessant arguing and power grabs to
further our demise. As it is, we are choosing national suicide, as
the church quietly watches the nation die, failing to do our part.
